StudentCam is C-SPAN’s annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and our nation. 2024 marked the 20th anniversary of the competition and we invited middle and high school students to create a short documentary addressing the theme, “Looking Forward while Considering the Past.”
8th grade student Meital Zayats from Isaac Graham Newton Middle School in Mountain View, California won 1st Prize for her documentary about artificial intelligence, “Beyond Just Sci-Fi: AI Reshaping America’s Tomorrow.” As a 1st Prize winner, Meital will receive $3,000 in prize money.
C-SPAN is funded by America’s cable and satellite television companies, who also support StudentCam. In Mountain View, C-SPAN is available locally through Comcast.
“For two decades, StudentCam has served as a catalyst for inspiring young minds to think critically about issues that are important to them and we at Comcast are proud to be a part of that legacy,” said Beth Hester, External Affairs Vice President, Comcast, California Region. “We congratulate Meital on this outstanding achievement in the 2024 competition.”
