StudentCam 2024 Competition - Winners

C-SPAN is thrilled to announce the prize-winning documentaries in StudentCam 2024 - our 20th anniversary of the competition! We received entries from over 3,200 students representing 42 states, Washington, D.C., the Mariana Islands, Canada, and India. Students were asked this year to address the theme: “Looking Forward while Considering the Past." After evaluating each entry through multiple rounds of judging, we are delighted to share the 150 prize-winning documentaries, as well as the winners of the 2024 "Fan Favorite" award and our "Behind the Scenes" photo competition.

We also wish to acknowledge the dedication and effort of each student who took part in the competition this year. Crafting a research-based documentary is a significant endeavor, and we understand that each of you invested weeks or even months in researching, storyboarding, scripting, conducting interviews, and editing your pieces. We feel fortunate to have learned more about a diverse range of topics that hold significance for you and your peers nationwide, and we genuinely enjoyed reviewing every submission. To all who participated, we hope you gained new skills and will continue to express your perspectives with the world. Every one of you should take pride in completing a project of this scale. Even if your documentary didn't secure one of the listed prizes, please look for an email from C-SPAN for an opportunity to receive a gift as a small token of our gratitude for your work.

All student filmmakers and their teachers will be contacted via email with more information regarding their prizes. C-SPAN television networks will broadcast each of the grand prize, first prize, and second prize winning documentaries at 6:50am ET and throughout the day during the month of April. See below for the documentary airdates of those entries.

Thank you once again to all who participated this year and made it our best competition yet. We hope those of you with remaining eligibility will consider participating in StudentCam 2025! Our new theme will be announced this summer and the official competition launch will coincide with the beginning of the new school year.

Congratulations to Ben Kurian whose video, Who Do I Want to Be?, won the 2024 "Fan Favorite" award, receiving over 22,000 votes. Benjamin will receive an additional $500 for his win.

Congratulations also to the 5 winners of our "Behind the Scenes" Photo Competition. Each of the 5 groups below will receive $100 for sharing photos of their StudentCam documentary production on social media:
